This book is fantastic! My wife and I have always dreamed of living on a homestead and growing and harvesting most, if not all of our own food. The beautiful story of a family working together to prepare their home for the winter as well as the stunning art that captures the real work, joy and satisfaction that comes from being self reliant and working together towards a goal makes this book a must read. Valuable lessons of hard work and being united for a common goal are taught here as well. I highly recommend it. 5 stars

I recently read this book with my daughter, and it was an absolute delight. The stories are rich, thoughtful, and incredibly engaging for young readers. Each page sparked curiosity and conversation, and my daughter was fully immersed from beginning to end.
As a parent and educator, I deeply appreciate literature that not only entertains but also encourages critical thinking and emotional connection.
I highly recommend this book to families, teachers, and anyone looking to inspire a love of reading in children.

What a lovely book! The story tells of preparation for the upcoming winter, and travels through all the seasons in a way that makes you think of simpler times. It reads like summer one minute then a cozy blanket and hot chocolate the next. The illustrations are so beautiful and have such personality so Snow on the Mountains will have a place on my shelf for sure.

This is a beautiful book full of lovely and detailed illustrations. The pace of the story and the detail of the pictures make it an excellent choice for a read-aloud for children. The story provides a look at a homesteading lifestyle that many may be unfamiliar with. I enjoy sharing this book with clients and students.

A wonderfully true picture of life on a modern day homestead. An absolutely delightful story of preparing for winter through the eyes of an eleven year old boy. The pictures are stunning and so realistic! The words and pictures give you a feeling of a tightly knit family that knows how to enjoy one another while working together. I admit, I love this book for myself as well as for the joy of reading it to and with my grandchildren! Every family should have this book in their home library!

I love this book! I really like that it’s about a real family. I personally don’t choose to live this kind of farm-to-table lifestyle, but I have a lot of relatives who do, and this is how my grandparents were raised. It was nostalgic to read and remember when I used to help with these kinds of chores. I showed it to my grandfather and his friend, and they chuckled and shared childhood farm memories as they read it. We all especially love the illustrations, and Grandpa wondered if he might be able to buy some of the pictures as paintings to hang on his wall. They are beautiful, and pair really well with the story. I look forward to reading more!

This is a truly beautiful book that captures the heart of homesteading in every page. The illustrations are absolutely stunning—rich with detail, warmth, and a timeless charm that draws you right into the scenes. It’s more than just a book; it’s an experience that reflects the deep family ties, dedication, and hard work that make homesteading so special.

This book is so sweet. I love the illustrations. They are beautiful and engaging. I love the way the boys work together with their family to preserve all the different food and then enjoy it once winter finally comes. I definitely recommend adding to your collection.
